If you love Beyond Burgers as much as I do, you know putting them between a bun is just the beginning. When you’re not devouring vegan cheeseburgers, you’re using them in basically everything else beef-related: stuffed peppers, tacos, lasagna—the list goes on. But thanks to Beyond Meat’s latest product release, that won’t be necessary for much longer.
According to Business Wire, Beyond Meat is bringing its new Beyond Beef product to stores this year as an easy way to add plant-based ground beef to your meals. Not only does it have the same meaty taste and texture as actual ground beef, but because it’s made with a blend of pea, rice, and mung bean protein, it contains 25 percent less saturated fat than the real thing.
“We’ve long had our eye on creating a product that enables consumers to enjoy all the benefits and versatility of ground beef while tapping into the human health, environmental, and animal welfare benefits of plant-based foods,” said Ethan Brown, founder and chief executive officer of Beyond Meat, in a press release. “As is our commitment, we’ve built this latest addition to our family of plant-based meats while being thoughtful about ingredient choices that support everyday use by the whole family.”
Brown says the ground beef product is free of GMOs, soy, and gluten, and it’s made to be versatile with a binding that enables you to form meatballs that don’t fall apart. Now here’s to hoping it arrives soon, because my stomach is already growling.
