Even when you eat mostly plants, it can still be hard to know which ones to pair together to create a meal that tastes just as good as it makes you feel. Especially with such an endless amount of options at your fingertips. The next time you’re assembling a nourish bowl—which, FYI, is basically just a fancy name for a bowl of nutrient-dense food—there’s a simple method to the madness.
Sadia Badiei, the registered dietitian behind Pick Up Limes, recently shared her steps to creating the perfect nourish bowl on Instagram. Even though there are only three things to keep in mind, they make going through the process—aka digging through your fridge—to create your own meal much easier.
According to Badiei, this is Nourish Bowl 101:
1. Add in raw or cooked veggies, which should make up 50% of your bowl
2. Add in whole grains, like quinoa or brown rice, to make up 25% of your bowl
3. Add in plant-based proteins, like beans, lentils, nuts, seeds, or soy products, for the last 25% of your bowl
