These Heart-Shaped Vegan Brownies Are the Only Dessert You Need This Valentine’s Day

Sure, Valentine’s Day is about love—even if those warm and fuzzy feelings just so happen to be about chocolate. Not just any chocolate, though: the most melt-in-your-mouth vegan brownies you’ve ever tasted.

Remy Park, the recipe developer and holistic nutritionist behind Veggiekins, just shared her most festive treats yet: brownies complete with a dusting of pastel pink beet powder and organic powdered sugar. And the ingredients aren’t just taste bud-approved: they’re also great for your heart.

“The two unexpected—and heart healthy—ingredients in this vegan brownie recipe are avocado and beet,” she writes in the recipe post. “Avocados are a heart-healthy fat that can help lower LDL levels, allow for the absorption of essential nutrients and minerals, and keep you satiated. And beets may lower the risk of heart disease, as they’re packed with nitrates that may lower blood pressure.”

With the addition of some other ingredients—including maple syrup, vanilla, chocolate chips, and cacao powder—you’ll have fluffy brownies ready to devour in just 40 minutes.
