If you haven’t noticed, avocado prices have drastically increased in prices. Since last summer, the national average has reportedly doubled, going from $1.17 to $2.10 each. Considering the fruit is healthy, filling, and pretty, it’s clear why the avocado has been a brunch staple years. But with the (much) higher price tag as of late, maybe it’s time to give some other toast options a chance to shine.
Don’t get me wrong: There’s nothing like a good avo toast with lime and a sprinkle of Trader Joe’s Everything But the Bagel seasoning. But switching things up is never a bad thing—especially when it saves you from draining your bank account. Just for a while, shift your attention to these underdogs of the toast world that are equally delicious, nutritious, and more than worthy of your Instagram feed.
