Growing up, I lived by our trips to all-you-can-eat Chinese buffets. Upon arrival, I’d immediately stack my plate as high as I could with all my go-tos: veggie lo mein, chicken and broccoli, egg rolls, and crab rangoon. But after going vegan, I quickly discovered there aren’t many options left when you’re avoiding animal products. That’s exactly why I need to head to London.
Dou Dou Restaurant, which is located in Camden Town, one of the most popular areas of London, has become quite a hot spot for anyone plant-based. At first glance, you’d never know every item on the menu is vegan. After walking in, you’re greeted with a huge Chinese buffet that feels like any other. But this time, you can pile up your plate with anything you want—and as much as you want!—for only around $8.
All your former favorites are in attendance, thanks to mock meats and eggless noodles: There’s veggie chow mein, sweet and sour “chicken,” spring rolls, and dim sum. You’ll also find plenty of plant-focused dishes to balance out all the carbs and fried goodies, like colorful salads, steamed veggies, and cut-up fruit.
If you want to live out your Chinese buffet dreams once again, there’s no better place to do it. (Aka you better start booking flights, stat.)
