Sometimes you just want your tofu to taste like chicken, okay? The next time you’re raiding your spice cabinet to make your favorite dish, all you’ll need to do is reach for Trader Joe’s new Vegan Chicken-Less Seasoning Salt.
The product—which was first spotted by Lola of @plantbasedlola—is said to mimic the flavors of chicken bullion, no animal-based ingredients needed. Instead, it uses a simple mix of sea salt, onion powder, turmeric, garlic powder, and other spices to get the familiar taste, allowing you to easily season plant-based proteins like tofu, tempeh, and seitan, add flavor to your rice, and make cozy “chicken” noodle soup.
If you’re not sure how you want to use it first, start with Trader Joe’s chicken cauliflower steaks. All you need to do is brush both sides of some cauliflower slices with a mix of 1/4 cup olive oil and two teaspoons of seasoning salt, then bake them in the oven at 400°F. After 15 minutes, dinner is served.
